Organic self-assembled monolayers of 1-octadecene were attached to the silicon surface through strong Si-C bonds. The electron flow through this system was measured by using scanning tunneling microscopy-scanning tunneling spectroscopy. The data treatment suggest that this electron flow is a tunneling process.
