Polyphony, defined as the simultaneous presence of multiple voices within an utterance, is a fundamental linguistic phenomenon, especially significant for analysing argumentative discourse. Heterogeneity is central to collapsology’s rhetorical power, enabling it to transcend mere systemic diagnoses and foster a critical interpretative praxis. This study explores the role of discursive heterogeneity in collapsology, focusing on the rhetorical strategies of Yves Cochet, a prominent figure in the field. Through an analysis of two key audiovisual interviews (C l’hebdo, 2019; Élucid, 2024), the paper highlights how Cochet employs third-party discourses from political, scientific, and popular domains to construct a complex rhetorical framework.

Abstract
Polyphony, defined as the simultaneous presence of multiple voices within an utterance, is a fundamental linguistic phenomenon, especially significant for analysing argumentative discourse. Heterogeneity is central to collapsology’s rhetorical power, enabling it to transcend mere systemic diagnoses and foster a critical interpretative praxis. This study explores the role of discursive heterogeneity in collapsology, focusing on the rhetorical strategies of Yves Cochet, a prominent figure in the field. Through an analysis of two key audiovisual interviews (C l’hebdo, 2019; Élucid, 2024), the paper highlights how Cochet employs third-party discourses from political, scientific, and popular domains to construct a complex rhetorical framework.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
