This study examines the mythical figure of Orlando as a traveler in Inamoramento de Orlando by Boiardo and Orlando Furioso by Ariosto. It argues that, despite variations in the nature and scope of his journeys, Orlando represents an archetype of boundary-crossing and transformation, navigating geographical boundaries, as well as the dichotomies of love and unbridled passion, reason and madness, humanity and bestiality. Furthermore, the analysis highlights how other characters, through their quests, temporarily and reversibly assume alternative identities, testing the boundaries between the feminine and the masculine.

Abstract
This study examines the mythical figure of Orlando as a traveler in Inamoramento de Orlando by Boiardo and Orlando Furioso by Ariosto. It argues that, despite variations in the nature and scope of his journeys, Orlando represents an archetype of boundary-crossing and transformation, navigating geographical boundaries, as well as the dichotomies of love and unbridled passion, reason and madness, humanity and bestiality. Furthermore, the analysis highlights how other characters, through their quests, temporarily and reversibly assume alternative identities, testing the boundaries between the feminine and the masculine.File in questo prodotto:
