Following some brief reflections by Mauro Corsaro on Iranism in the Micrasiatic area and in order to understand the elements of continuity and dynamics of transformation that characterised Cappadocia between the period of Persian rule and Late Antiquity, this paper highlights the absolute specificity/exceptionality of this Anatolian region, which was the scene of both religious permanence and linguistic persistence of Iranian derivation, as well as cultural changes brought about by the reigning Hellenistic dynasties, and political changes produced by contacts with Rome between the Late Republic and Imperial age.

Abstract
Following some brief reflections by Mauro Corsaro on Iranism in the Micrasiatic area and in order to understand the elements of continuity and dynamics of transformation that characterised Cappadocia between the period of Persian rule and Late Antiquity, this paper highlights the absolute specificity/exceptionality of this Anatolian region, which was the scene of both religious permanence and linguistic persistence of Iranian derivation, as well as cultural changes brought about by the reigning Hellenistic dynasties, and political changes produced by contacts with Rome between the Late Republic and Imperial age.File in questo prodotto:
