The use of images, music and dance have always been strictly connected to performing arts in both Modern and Traditional Egyptian theatre. During the last decades these different languages have been used in theatre to overcome the word and its limitations, and also to communicate with the audience at different levels (intellectual, emotional, empathetic). The aim of this study is to propose, in this context, an analysis of some examples from the repertoire of Muḥammad Abū al-Su‘ūd, paying attention to what the author/director wants to communicate to the audience and how he adds meaning to the text through these different languages.

Abstract
The use of images, music and dance have always been strictly connected to performing arts in both Modern and Traditional Egyptian theatre. During the last decades these different languages have been used in theatre to overcome the word and its limitations, and also to communicate with the audience at different levels (intellectual, emotional, empathetic). The aim of this study is to propose, in this context, an analysis of some examples from the repertoire of Muḥammad Abū al-Su‘ūd, paying attention to what the author/director wants to communicate to the audience and how he adds meaning to the text through these different languages.File in questo prodotto:
