Between the 15th and 16th centuries, manuscripts of Juvenal frequently included a hexameter poem by Guarino Veronese serving as an index to the sixteen Satires. On rare occasions, a second anonymous index was added, likewise composed of sixteen hexameters, each beginning with the incipit of every single one of the sixteen Satires. The 15th-century codex Messan. F.V. 14, the focus of the present study, transmits the exceptional case of both indices, and provides for the latter a text of particular relevance to the history of Juvenal’s tradition, since it preserves a significant variant – hitherto regarded merely as a conjecture – at Iuv. 13, 1.

Abstract
13, 1.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
