The study analyzes the persistence of remnants of medieval patriarchal language in the 23rd edition of the DLE by examining certain expressions that appeared in 19th-century dictionaries, including a series that objectify women or incite violence against them, there- by revealing the origin of the androcentric bias in Spanish lexicography. This study also demonstrates that new derogatory expressions towards women emerged alongside the first feminist demands.
