The graffiti found during the 2023 and 2024 excavations, and published here, place Sicily squarely in the Roman political debate of the first half of the 1st century BC. The name of Lucius Cornelius Sulla appears two times, a sign of the interest that visitors to the III M House had in the political events of the time and the figure of the dicta; the mention of the cognomen Felix, obtained after his appoint- ment as dictator, allows us to date the wall inscriptions of 2024 to 81 BC or the years immediately following.

Abstract
The graffiti found during the 2023 and 2024 excavations, and published here, place Sicily squarely in the Roman political debate of the first half of the 1st century BC. The name of Lucius Cornelius Sulla appears two times, a sign of the interest that visitors to the III M House had in the political events of the time and the figure of the dicta; the mention of the cognomen Felix, obtained after his appoint- ment as dictator, allows us to date the wall inscriptions of 2024 to 81 BC or the years immediately following.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
