This article takes as its starting point the role played by Augusto Campana in the rediscovery of the Epigrammata Bobiensia and his project – never realized – to reconstruct the history of their textual transmission. Within this perspective, the study focuses on Epigr. Bob. 68, which depends on the pseudo-Isocratean Ad Demonicum 18 and reworks it in Latin as an exhortation to continuous learning. Building on this basis, the article advances a new hypothesis concerning a possible early medieval Fortleben of the poem, identifying a significant point of contact with Alcuin of York’s carm. 111 Dümmler, which reproduces in its closing line (v. 9) the incipit of the Bobbio epigram. This convergence suggests the possible medieval circulation of Epigr. Bob. 68 and highlights the continuity between the Late Antique motif of φιλομάθεια and the Carolingian ideal of the public dissemination of learning.

Abstract
Bob. 68 and highlights the continuity between the Late Antique motif of φιλομάθεια and the Carolingian ideal of the public dissemination of learning.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
