The results of a phytosociological study on the bryophyte vegetation occurring in the LinosaIsland (Pelagian Archipelago) are given. Twenty associations have been recognized, of which four are reportedfor the fi rst time from Italy; these are Reboulio hemisphaericae-Targionietum hypophyllae, Aloinobifrontis-Tortuletum atrovirentis, Crossidio crassinervis-Pottietum commutatae, Pottio pallidae-Riccietumcrustatae. Moreover, a new association, Tortelletum papillosissimae, of the alliance Tortellion fl avovirentisis described. The bryophyte associations surveyed are referred to the bryosociological classes Barbuleteaunguiculatae, Grimmietea anodontis and Ctenidietea mollusci.
