This chapter survey MNEs’ competitive strategy research. The discussion is organised in three main sections. Next section illustrates the international strategic goals imposing strategic choices to the MNE. Section 3 deals with corporate internal organisational strategy by focusing on the changing organisation of the MNE internal structure and the role of its wholly owned subsidiaries. Section 4 is devoted to international strategic alliances as an external organisational strategy of the MNE. As far as this last topic is concerned, if some overlaps will inevitably rise between this chapter and the one from Africa Ariño and Esteban Garcia-Canal the distinctive feature of our discussion lies in the focus on cross-border alliances. Section 4 also discusses the issue of MNEs in clusters.
