Riscrivere il ciclo salgariano dei pirati: parodie, riusi, nostalgie

The imagery of Emilio Salgari conditioned the Italian collective imagery in the post-unification years. Among the most interesting witnesses of this phenomenon is the study of the rewriting (often parodistic) of his novels, of his style, of his characters. The corpus of the works studied includes a novel by Giuseppe Marotta, a story by Giovanni Arpino, a book by Ugo Gregoretti, anthologies of rather recent stories and more. It is also remarkable the presence of a mythography by the author Salgari, not only his characters.

Uno dei segni che dimostrano quanto l’immaginario salgariano si sia inciso in profondità nell’immaginario italiano post-unitario è la presenza di riscritture (imitative o nostalgiche o, più spesso, parodistiche) dei suoi testi, della sua scrittura, dei suoi personaggi. In questo studio ci si sofferma in particolare sulle riscritture del ciclo malese: un romanzo di Giuseppe Marotta, un racconto di Giovanni Arpino, un libro di Ugo Gregoretti, antologie di racconti piuttosto recenti e altro ancora. Rimarchevole è anche la presenza di una mitografia dell’autore Salgari, non solo dei suoi personaggi.
