La battaglia del vicus Helena segnò l’arresto dell’avanzata dei Franchi in Gallia. Sidonio Apollinare attesta che l’esercito romano guidato da Aezio sconfisse Clodione intorno al 446-447, successo che consentì all’Impero di imporre un maggiore controllo sui Franchi. Alcune fonti, e in particolare Gregorio di Tours, non citano questo avvenimento, e ritengono che i Franchi non abbiano incontrato resistenze alla loro espansione in Gallia nella prima metà del V secolo
