This paper points out the relevance of Sicily in the works of Gregory of Tours. The island is mentioned only three times: in the Historiarum Libri, about a hypotetic conquest by Butilin, a frankish commander, and the foundation of six monasteries by Gregory the Great; in the De cursu stellarum ratio, about the mount Etna, its eruptions and symbolism. Although the scarcity of quotations, the interest of Gregory of Tours for Sicily reveal the widespread of his geographic horizon well beyond the Gaul
L’articolo prende in esame lo spazio concesso alla rilevanza della Sicilia nelle opere di Gregorio di Tours. L’isola è menzionata solo tre volte: negli Historiarum Libri, circa una sua ipotetica conquista da parte di Butilino, un comandante franco, e la fondazione di sei monasteri da parte di Gregorio Magno; nel De cursu stellarum ratio in relazione all’Etna, alle sue eruzioni e al suo valore allegorico. Nonostante la pochezza delle citazioni, l’interesse di Gregorio di Tours per la Sicilia rivela l’ampiezza del suo orizzonte geografico che si estendeva ben al di là della Gallia
