The author analyses two unpublished letters (1929) and one postcard (1936) sent by K. Hoppe to W. Heraeus (now at the Thesaurus linguae Latinae in Munich) regarding the difficult passage of Pelagon. 237: porcinum ueretrum loco apertae ungulae destillabis. A new witness about the use of male hog’s genitals in ancient med-icine is also added: Plin. phys. Flor.-Prag. 2,30,26.
