Abstract
Three passages of Vegetius's Epitoma rei militaris are discussed. At 3.10.23 read legiones ... deleuarunt (delebarunt ε deleuerunt δβ debellarunt AcC); here the verb delěuo means "to eliminate". At 3.14.13 read cum ad speltas et ad pilam ... uentum fuerit (hispelthas ε spathas δβ); the expression ad speltas et ad pilam uenire means "to come to hand-to-hand combat". At 4.39.8 read publicoque spectaculo multarum gentium (gentium ε urbium Εβφ), that means "by a public display of many people". Considerations about the stemma codicum of the Epitoma rei militaris and the criteria for editing late Latin texts follow.File in questo prodotto:
