Miss Ida Koritchoner, travelling Secretary della 'World Association for Adult Education (1919-1929): tra Germania e Italia

Ida Koritchoner was an important figure of reference of the World Association for Adult Education during the 1920s. As the association’s travelling secretary, she forged significant relationships with some prominent pedagogists and educators on the European continent. This contribution intends to reconstruct some of Koritchoner’s periods of activity in Germany and, above all, in Italy. In addition to her writings and the perusal of the W.A.A.E. 'Bulletin', this article made use of the unpublished correspondence between the English scholar and some prominent personalities of the culture of the time, from Theodor Bäuerle to Wilhelm Flitner all the way up to Umberto Zanotti Bianco, Giovanni Gentile and Giuseppe Lombardo Radice.

Ida Koritchoner è stata negli anni venti del Novecento un’importante figura di riferimento della World Association for Adult Education. In qualità di travelling Secretary dell’associazione, intrecciò rapporti significativi con alcuni autorevoli pedagogisti e educatori del continente europeo. Il presente contributo intende ricostruire alcuni momenti dell’attività della Koritchoner in Germania e soprattutto in Italia. Oltre ai suoi scritti e allo spoglio del ‘Bulletin’ della W.A.A.E., l’articolo si è avvalso dei carteggi inediti della studiosa inglese con alcune personalità di spicco della cultura dell’epoca, da Theodor Bäuerle a Wilhelm Flitner sino a Umberto Zanotti Bianco, Giovanni Gentile e Giuseppe Lombardo Radice.
