This paper discusses the main outputs of the European research project ApprEnt. The project was aimed at promoting the establishment of apprenticeship, one of the most accredited work-based learning practices for bridging the gap between the worlds of education and business. The focus is on the analysis of the generic prototype of training model for higher education apprenticeships mentors developed within the project. The purpose is the detection of skills profiles and formal training for these professionals, still poorly valued in the Italian context.
